NJ Route 42 Pavement Repair, Camden & Gloucester Counties, NJ

Owner: The New Jersey Department of Transportation

Traffic Count: 107,000 ADT

Work Window: 6 hours (for two lanes) at night only

The project included restoration of 9.62 miles of this 6 lane state highway that is a major commuter thoroughfare in and out of Philadelphia from Southern New Jersey. Normal weight precast concrete Super-SlabĀ® panels were used for full-depth replacement on the roadway. Work zone closures were generally limited to six nighttime hours during which two of three lanes could be closed for work. Despite the short work windows, the contractor regularly installed 10 slabs per night in intermittent repair areas.
