I-95 Pavement Restorations, New Rochelle, NY

Owner: The New York State Thruway Authority

Traffic Count: 135,00 ADT

Work Window: 5 hours (for two lanes) at night only

The project included restoration of 7.2 miles of I-95, a heavily traveled 6 lane interstate highway. Normal weight precast concrete Super-SlabĀ® panels were used for full-depth replacement on the roadway and lightweight precast concrete Super-SlabĀ® for total replacement of the pavement on two earth-filled arch bridges. Work zone closures were generally limited to five nighttime hours during which two of three lanes could be closed for work. The penalty was severe for not opening all three lanes to highway traffic by 5:30 a.m.
